In a strategic move to equip local engineers with cutting-edge skills in broadband technology, the Lekki Peninsula Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) recently concluded a three-day intensive training program focused on Fibre to the Home (FTTH) optic broadband internet connections.
Organised in technical partnership with HUAWEI Technologies and the Lekki Engineers Network, an initiative spearheaded by the NSE Lekki Peninsula executive committee. The training aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding broadband sector.

Practical Learning for Real-World Impact
The program was structured in batches to ensure personalised attention and hands-on experience for each participant. Engineers, technicians, and seasoned professionals engaged in immersive sessions that covered the installation, configuration, and maintenance of FTTH systems. These practical modules were designed to enhance employability and technical proficiency in a field that is increasingly vital to Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
Beyond the Toolkit: Strategic Insights
In addition to the technical training, participants attended lectures on Fibre Fixed Broadband Project performance management. These sessions provided valuable insights into project planning, execution, and optimisation; key competencies for engineers looking to lead broadband initiatives in both urban and rural communities.

Building Capacity for the Future
The training welcomed a diverse group of attendees, from aspiring engineers to experienced professionals, reflecting NSE Lekki Peninsula’s commitment to inclusive capacity building. By fostering collaboration between industry leaders and local talent, the initiative underscores the branch’s dedication to advancing engineering excellence and supporting national development goals.
This program marks a significant milestone in the branch’s ongoing efforts to empower engineers with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.
